Suspect arrested (James McGonagle) in attempted kidnapping of 5-year-old in Queens - Queens kidnapping attempt
Police arrested one of the criminals accused in the brazen attempted kidnapping of a 5-year-old boy who was traveling with his family in Queens on Friday night.
James McGonagle, 24, of Pomonok, was charged with attempted kidnapping, reckless endangerment and child endangerment in connection with the horrific incident in Richmond Hill on Thursday night, the NYPD announced.
McGonagle's alleged accomplice, a balding older man photographed wearing jeans, an orange polo shirt and sunglasses, remains at large.
The child's mother desperately fought the suspect.

The disturbing incident was captured by security cameras and shows a maroon sedan passing alongside a mother and her three children on a sidewalk.
One man police said was McGonagle then jumped out of the car, grabbed the little boy and pushed him into the back seat of the car near Myrtle and Hillside avenues around 8:45 p.m., according to footage.

The frantic mother was able to pull her son out of an open window of the car before the vehicle sped away.
Sources said the mother and her children were going to her husband's job to bring him food when the near kidnapping occurred.

Man who tried to kidnap Latino boy in broad daylight, arrested
New York police have arrested a man who attempted to kidnap a five-year-old boy in broad daylight Friday on a Queens borough street while he was walking with his mother, Dolores Diaz Lopez.
The suspect was identified by authorities as James McGonagle, 24, who was charged with attempted kidnapping and reckless endangerment, among other charges.
The arrest came after police released video of the crime, which shows Diaz Lopez walking down the street with her three children around 8 p.m. local time, when McGonagle suddenly emerges from a parked car and grabs the youngest child, who is walking slightly ahead of his mother.
