Obama's 60th birthday celebration leaked through photos

A series of photos leaked by guests at former U.S. President Barack Obama's 60th birthday party revealed details of the celebrity-filled bash that took place this Saturday night on the exclusive island of Martha's Vineyard (Massachusetts, USA).

The Obamas organized a massive event at their mansion located on the island, despite their spokesman said this week that the capacity had been "reduced" only to family and close friends due to the recent spike in COVID-19 in the country, according to media outlets such as The New York Post.

Guests such as rapper Trap Beckham, singer Erykah Badu and manager TJ Chapman showed on their social networks snapshots of the menu, the atmosphere and the decoration, with accreditations and napkins engraved for the occasion with the insignia 44x60 (44 for the number of the former president and 60 for his age) in gold.

Although the photos they shared were later removed due to the event's privacy policy, the media published one in which Obama can be seen with a microphone in his hand and enjoying himself on what looks like a dance floor, and others in which a large congregation of people can be seen at the high-profile celebration.

Actor George Clooney, director Steven Spielberg and host Oprah Winfrey were among the 475 people who had received invitations to the lavish celebration, where the rock band Pearl Jam was to play and where all guests had to take a covid test before attending, according to U.S. media.

Although few details are known about the event, the digital newspaper The Hill reports that there were performances by rapper Beckham and singers Alicia Keys and John Legend, and that dinner options included steak, chicken and shrimp with rice, vegetables and potatoes.

Also, bottles of liquor, cocktails, desserts and cigars were seen, with some of the guests smoking cannabis, which is legal to consume in that state.

"I had to erase everything because of the rules. It was decidedly epic. If videos transcend, they will go viral. He danced the whole time. No one has ever seen Obama like that before," Beckham commented on his social media.
