Michelle wrote about it on his official Twitter account European Truth reported.

Michel stressed to the Russian president "the urgent need to end the fratricidal war against Ukraine."

He called for an immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of Russian troops and spoke to Putin about the ongoing talks between Ukraine and Russia.

"Protecting the lives of civilians is an absolute priority. Indiscriminate shelling of Ukrainian civilians by Russian forces must stop. Russia must urgently allow humanitarian access and safe passage," Michel said.

He said the EU was united in condemning Russian aggression, responding with tough sanctions and providing further assistance to Ukraine.

The Kremlin said Vladimir Putin had complained to Michel that Kiev was showing no serious willingness to find mutually acceptable solutions in talks between Ukrainian and Russian representatives.
