British real estate agent shot dead in Florida as she conducted walk-through with new tenants

According to reports, a British real estate agent was shot by a "disgruntled ex-tenant" while conducting a viewing in Florida.

Sara Trost, originally from Southend, Essex, was sitting in a parked car outside the property in Coral Springs, near Fort Lauderdale, when she was gunned down Thursday.

Police believe the 40-year-old was attacked by Raymond Reese, whom Ms. Trost had reportedly driven from a property.

Reese, 51, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Thursday after shots were fired outside the three-bedroom property.

Ms. Trost, a mother of three, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Coral Springs police said in a statement, "When officers arrived, they discovered a vehicle with a female occupant in the driver's seat suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

"Despite immediate medical treatment, the female driver succumbed to her injuries at the scene and was pronounced dead."

According to neighbors, Reese claimed he was upset after being evicted from the $515,000 (£385,000) home.

Police have not released further details, but no other suspects are being sought at this time.

Ms. Trost was married to her American husband Jason, and they had a three-year-old daughter, reports The Mail .

She had spoken out on social media about gun violence—sparked by the deadly 2018 high school shooting in nearby Parkland that killed 17 people.

On Facebook, she wrote : “Australia had an incident. First, they fixed it. Britain had ONE incident. They fixed it. How?

“With action. With their brains. It wasn't hard for either country to come up with a workable and successful solution.

"Here in the U.S., we seem to start and stop at 'thoughts and prayers.' Doesn't seem to work right,” she added.

Police said Ms. Trost's death remains under investigation and the suspect remains in custody.
