Professional boxer Danny Kelly Jr. shot in front of his children

On Friday afternoon, the boxing pro was on his way to a Christmas party with his girlfriend and his three children. Suddenly, a car stopped, then shots rang out. Kelly suffered multiple gunshot wounds. By the time emergency personnel arrived, he was unconscious. A little later he lost the fight for his life.

Police said of the incident, "This is an absolutely heartbreaking loss for the family and friends of Mr. Kelly. He is not at home with his loved ones today, Christmas, who are now mourning his loss instead of celebrating the holiday."

The background to the killing is still unclear, and the investigation is ongoing. A $25,000 reward has been offered for tips on apprehending the perpetrator. Kelly's girlfriend and children were not injured in the incident.
