Cause of death. 'America's Got Talent' contestant Skilyr Hicks has died at age 23
Skilyr Hicks, a former contestant on "America's Got Talent," was found dead Monday at a friend's home in South Carolina, according to a report. She was 23 years old.

"She will live on through her music," Hicks' mother Jodi told TMZ , who broke the death news .
It was not immediately clear how Hicks died. The mother told the outlet that her daughter suffered from substance abuse and mental health issues.
Hicks performed a song in 2013 at the age of 14 on the 8th season of NBC's talent show competition.
She made it to the second round and then was eliminated before the live rounds of the show.
Hicks is survived by her mother and four siblings.
