Matt Ulrich passed away at the age of 41

Matt Ulrich, former Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman who won the Super Bowl in the 2006 season, has died. He was 41 years old.

Colts team owner Jim Irsay made the announcement on X.

"I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of Matt Ulrich. Matt was only with us for two seasons, but he left his mark on many," he wrote. "He was a great guy, I've heard he was a great father - and he was a Super Bowl Champion. My prayers go out to his family.

Ulrich attended Northwestern University and signed as a free agent with the Colts in 2005. He played in five games that season and five more in 2006.

After his NFL career, he co-founded DexaFit, a company that uses technology to enable people to analyze their bodies, and was Chief Growth Officer and Partner of Profitable Ideas Exchange, a company that helps companies accelerate their growth and position themselves in their industry.

In his profile on Profitable Ideas Exchange, the Illinois-born entrepreneur describes how he leads a fulfilling life.

"Having my four teenage sons is the highlight of my life and keeps me on my toes," it says. "I'm also dedicated to helping young athletes from our region reach their full potential through coaching and training - that's one of my true passions. I can also often be found at the gym, where I recently weighed in at 505 pounds at the age of 40 - I'm always setting new goals for myself!
