The traditional US show "Saturday Night Live" was without an audience on Saturday. Reason for it is a heavy Corona wave in the city of New York. The traditional US sketch show "Saturday Night Live" was produced on Saturday without studio audience and with only a few ensemble members. Instead of the usual 20 comedians, only 2 were part of the recording in the studio. Rea son for it was a heavy Corona wave in New York.
The decision was taken as a "precautionary measure," the production of the show announced on Twitter a few hours before the broadcast. The “New York Times” and other media reported that several comedians of the ensemble had tested positive for the virus.
Actor Paul Rudd appeared as scheduled, with Tom Hanks and Tina Fey stepping in as guest hosts on short notice. Music guest Charli XCX canceled her appearance.
New York is currently experiencing a sharp increase in new confirmed Corona cases. Within the past week, the number of cases has doubled from around 2500 to more than 5000 per day.
